Help Needed for Precious

Organized by Dogs Deserve Better

UPDATE 8/22/2010
After about 2 1/2 months of extensive care and treatment,
veterinarians feel Precious's leg has been SAVED! Precious had surgery to remove bone fragments causing the infection in her leg and with surgery and strong antibiotics, the infection has cleared up! Precious has been dealing with ongoing rehab since her surgery and may always have a hint of a limp but is doing much better than when she was first rescued! She is currently being fostered by a wonderful vet nurse who has been giving her the special attention she needs to get through this tough time.

As Precious has been going through the long process to save her leg vet bill have been adding up. Any contribution you would be willing to make would be greatly appreciated!

4 Month Old Puppy "Precious" Fighting to Save Her Leg!
Precious was left outside in a small 6x10 ft. pen with a broken leg forapproximately 2 months. She shared a dog box with her parents andbrother along with 1 food and water dish.

Thanks to Denise, her temporary foster mom, who helped rescue her and get her immediatemedical attention, Precious was given a hopeful but guarded prognosis. She has a massive osteomyelitis in the bone which because untreated forso long and not being able to put her weight on the leg, caused thedeformity at the bottom of her foot. Her ligaments contracted so shehas a cast on to try and straighten the leg. She is on very strongantibiotics and in 2 weeks she will receive more x-rays to see if theplan is working otherwise her leg will need amputated!

Any contribution would be greatly appreciated as this puppy has a huge battle ahead of her!
